Art_Painting a Portfolio
The girls started painting with tempera paints using the individual desks as pop-up easels. They painted 4 or 5 painitings independently with an artists' crit in the middle. They learned to look at their paintings for things that are the SAME and things that are DIFFERENT. Then, they continued painting with intention to paint more the same or more different. This introductory "critique" helps draw out the common art language called "elements" including color, line, shape, texture, space, value, and form.

French: Welcoming the first butterfly
The girls were very excited to welcome their first butterfly to the kindergarten classroom. We learned a little song in French to sing to the butterfly. We hope it will help him to fly.

We learned how different they looked long ago.
We went on a journey to see important people and find the Bryn Mawr Seal.
Visiting the portrait of Miss Edith Hamilton.
She was first head Mistress of Bryn Mawr.
We each told her what we want to learn!
We had great ideas, reading, science, math
and all about butterflies!
We had a fun visit with Ms. Maureen Walsh.
She is the Head of Bryn Mawr School.
Our visit to Ms. Walsh was on
Spirit Day.
She could tell how much spirit we had!
Sharing delicious daisy cupcakes made by
Caroline's Mommy to celebrate fall birthdays.
Memories from our first fun Spirit Day!
Carrots, crackers, celery and cream cheese make the
BEST BRYN MAWR DAISIES!
Waiting and observing each day.

Technology in the Creation Station
During Technology in the Creation Station, the girls have been busy learning the rules and routines and iPad basics like, turning on the iPad, locking the iPad, taking a picture and opening and closing apps. We have also worked in two different apps. The first app we learned was Little Writer. The second app we learned was PicCollage. In PicCollage we have added several pictures to our fall collage. We have just started the app MyStory. We will be creating an ABC book throughout the year.
