Art: Mindfulness Painting

The girls have started a large work that will use almost every medium in the studio before it's finished! Today, they painted with tempera paint. They painted around circles and within circles.  They painted around circles until the circles connected making a new shape like when friends join together to play.  The girls connected the paint rings around the circles to the core value "mindfulness" because everyone is included!

Happy Halloween!

This week we are busily preparing for Halloween. We made jack-o-lanterns with parallel lines, used "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" song to practice our popcorn words 'the' and 'and', and practiced the short 'a' sound with "5 Little Monkeys". We hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween!

Computer Programming

This month the girls began an introduction to computer programming by learning about Ada Lovelace.  In 1843, Ada Lovelace became known as the first computer programmer and predicted the future of technology.  During Ada Week, October 13-17th, we watched various short video clips and read articles about her life.  We then created a class Popplet about Ada’s life.  Now we are learning more about computer programming using an app called Kodable.

OUR BUTTERFLIES BRYN AND GILMAN ARE ON THIER WAY TO MEXICO !

We were thrilled to watch Bryn and Gilman emerge from their chrysalises, dry their wings and begin their flight to Mexico.

                                                                   Saying goodbye!

Finding Mexico

In math we learned our Monarch butterflies were
SYMMETRICAL.

Designing and painting our Monarch butterflies for the cover of our book was fun.
Each butterfly was as unique as we are!

Balancing in P.E.

In P.E., the Kindergarten continues to work on balancing and body control.  We have practiced balancing body positions by using yoga poses, balancing bean bags on different body parts and learning how to activate certain muscles groups to help keep us balanced.

We Have Bryn Mawr Spirit!

After learning all about our five founders last week, we have had fun showing our Bryn Mawr spirit this week for Spirit Day. On Tuesday we dressed in green, gold, and white for an exciting day of spirit and cheering on our Bryn Mawrtians. Our day began with making pennants and hats with extra glitter and ended with an all school parade.

We had a fashion show to show off our spirit.

GO BRYN MAWR!!!!!

FOUNDER'S WEEK

We had a wonderful week of celebrating The Bryn Mawr School!

Our week took us many places on campus.
One of the girls said this week, "Founder's Day is like Valentines Day for Bryn Mawr because we show how much we love Bryn Mawr !"

We found the portrait of Miss Edith Hamilton and took her what we want to learn at Bryn Mawr.

We learned about the Five Founders and throughout the week we were one of them!

We danced and exercised at the founders circle.

We met our Headmistress Ms. Maureen Walsh.  She was very nice!

We had a Founders' Tea Party.

We made wishes on the Owl Gate.
We showed Mr. Edith Hamilton our i-Pads.  We know this is just a portrait of her but it was fun to
                                                   "pretend" she could hear us.

We discovered the Founder's Bench and found the name of each Founder.

We celebrated learning about Bryn Mawr today, made Bryn Mawr daisies
                                                                  and ate them!

                                                              BRYNMARVELOUS !

WE ARE PROUD TO BE BRYN MAWR GIRLS!
