Happy Valentine's Day!

100 Days of Fun and Learning!

On Monday, February 13th, we celebrated the 100th Day of School! Mrs. Martin and Miss Waters planned many fun activities for us including a One Hundred Day trail mix snack in which there were 10 different snacks (nut free) and we counted 10 of each snack to make 100! In addition to the 100 Day snack, we learned a 100 Day song from our poem and song book and read "The 100th Day Worries" by Margery Cuyler. We also reflected on our favorite days from the school year thus far. It was a great day!

Read-a-thon!

Parent readers volunteered their time to read to homeroom classes in the lower school this morning. In kindergarten, we were lucky enough to have three parents come in to read to us. Some of the books read included "Moana" from the Disney movie, "Mirette on the High Wire" by Emily Arnold McCully, and "Fancy Nancy" by Jane O'Connor. THANK YOU to our parent readers who gave their time to us today!

Groundhog Day!

Through interdisciplinary teaching, Mrs. Martin and Miss Waters applied our science unit of weather and seasons to language arts and math. In language arts we learned the song "Punxsutawney Phil" We discussed what would happen if the groundhog saw his shadow and what would happen if he didn't see his shadow. Finally, we illustrated our understanding of this fun legend.

In math, we made predictions and voted on what we thought would happen. Nine friends from Miss Waters class (including Miss Waters) predicted the groundhog would see his shadow and return to his burrow for six more weeks of winter. Six friends from Miss Waters class predicted the groundhog would not see his shadow and spring would come early. We graphed and tallied the results.

Here's to hoping for some snow or an early spring-depending on how you voted!
Happy Groundhog Day!
