French Picnic

The girls had a blast today ordering their bread and chocolate in French.  We had a few minutes at the end of class to play a French hand clapping game.  We even had a butterfly join the girls from Mrs. Marin's class.  All of the girls have done a great job this year building their French vocabulary and learning to love a new language.  This weekend I will be e-mailing each of you a copy of your daughter's digital French book that we have been making throughout the year.  She would probably enjoy sitting with you and showing off all of the things in her book that she has learned in Kindergarten.

The Beautiful Month of May

With the weather turned nice we are spending as much time as possible outdoors. We love watching the Cherry Blossoms fall from the trees like snow! Last week we watched the third graders practice their Maypole dance. We can't wait to see them perform at the rescheduled gym drill next Friday!

A few weeks ago we read the story Miss Hunnicutt's Hat by Jeff Brumbeau. Miss Hunnicutt causes quite a stir in her town when she wears a chicken on her hat! In honor of Miss Hunnicutt standing up for herself and with a nod to the hats worn at the derby, we made our own spring hats. Of course, such beautiful hats must be shown to others so we took a spin around campus, serenading anyone who would listen! Come to the concert tomorrow to see them in person!
