Signs of Spring!

Cherry Blossoms!
The birds are chirping and the cherry blossoms are blooming! Using coffee filters and red watercolors, we were able to create our very own cherry blossoms!

Language Arts: Writing- Spring Break Memories!

We wrote about our spring break adventures. In language arts, we are learning to develop and write complete sentences by using a proper sentence starter and the correct punctuation at the end. We are also encouraged to use phonemic awareness skills to help us spell words that we do not know. This challenges us to apply the skills we have learned so far and to also take risks!

Language Arts: Sight Words

We also went on a spring egg hunt, hunting for sight words we have learned as well as words from our word families.

Math: Geometry Puppets!

In math, we have been learning about vertices which is the fancy word for where two sides meet to make a corner!

Science: Dissecting Daffodils!

In science, we dissected daffodils and learned about the different parts of the flower, including the trumpet, stem and six petals. We also discovered the bulb and roots!

Welcome Spring!
We are enjoying the warmer weather and longer days and hope the warm spring weather is here to stay!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

In Language Arts we read what is known to be one of the most classic of Dr. Seuss books, "The Cat in the Hat". We reviewed rhyming words which also connected to our study of word families. We then made our very own hats!

In Math we read "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish". We then graphed multi-colored goldfish!

In Science, we read "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" and then we got to make (and take home) our very own oobleck. If you would like to make some more oobleck at home, the recipe is below!

Oobleck Recipe

 1 cup water
1.5-2 cups corn starch
a few drops of food coloring of your choice (we used green)
